In this little test we pitted our PSP Go screen against our PSP-2000′s. We no longer have our PSP-3000, so we couldn’t put it up against our PSP Go. But personally, while the PSP-3000 has better colors against a PSP-2000, it has some ghosting and lag as the result of a lower latency screen.
So we know the PSP Go has a smaller screen, 3.8 inches versus the PSP-2000′s 4.3 inches. But while you notice the difference it also has a positive effect. Images on the screen look much sharper. When I go back to using my PSP-2000 it looks a little blurry after using the Go for a while. But then you like the fact its larger…So its a hard one.
However when I compare contrast, the PSP Go screen is a clear winner. Infact the best PSP screen I think to date. It has the nice color range of the PSP-3000 with slightly better contrast and no ghosting / screen lag!!
I’ve taken a few photos of the two screens side by side so you can clearly see that the PSP Go has better contrast and less screen bleed. Black is much blacker and white, much whiter. The last photo taken in the dark with the screens displaying a completely black image demonstrates this. As you can see the PSP-2000 show much more white light bleeding in the images Vs the PSP Go.
Now I’m no expert when it comes to PSP Screens, but you can see in person as well as from these pictures the better of the two LCD screens.

The Go’s screen is the best, can wait for it to be compare with 3000′s screen !
October 18, 2009 at 2:57 am
thank god that they didn’t continue the 3000′s crappy screen
October 18, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Well, of course the PSP Go is gonna have a better screen because its smaller and has the same amount of pixels of the PSP 2000, but it clearly isn’t that much of a difference.
October 19, 2009 at 2:28 pm
Being smaller, but with the same number of pixels only accounts for the “sharpness”.
The Screen on the PSP Go also has a higher contrast ratio and larger color range. You have to take into account at least a couple years of LCD screen advancement, which the PSP Go takes advantage of.

we need a psp go type of emulator for the psp 2000. So it would be like if we wanted, the psp go screen could be emulatd on the psp 2000 or 1000 so we can have a crisper, brighter, and more HD screen for the psp
October 19, 2009 at 2:33 pm
You can’t emulate better, brighter, picture with higher contrast through software without losing something.
Making the picture brighter would kill the blacks, which already kind of suck on the PSP 2000.
Crisper… I don’t know how you would do that, except by emulating sharpness the way most LCD TVs do, which would add “edge fuzz” to everything. (This is why you should keep the “sharpness” setting on your new LCD HDTV to zero or close to zero)
Colors COULD be made more vibrant, but at the expense of color range and definition.
You just can’t do it through software alone.

Have some you note that Sony decide to dissavow the PSP Go ?
They going to sell packs of PSP 3000′s with different colors but nothing about the Go ! I think they understand their mistakes and try to catch up with previous models !!
PSP Go was I think a big market research and survey on the customers and fans of Sony ! and the worst we can not expect from them a reduction of the price because it too soon, the first increase of the price on Console are viewable one year after !!

The PSPGO screen is great, except for the wierd dotted bars easily seen when your on max brightness in a game. And I noticed that the graphics can be too sharp sometimes, like a weapon in a game may sport some black texture around the edges from far away.. more than a psp slim’s black outlines. Also the directional buttons are hard to get to
March 16, 2010 at 12:23 am
LOL the psp 2000′s screen almost as big as the Psp Go

The psp go seems to have more color and its sharper but the psp 2000 has a larger screen. i’ll stick with the psp 2000. doesnt really make that much of a diference to me exept for the screen size
