Today we tested to see if the PSP Go loads games faster off the internal 16GB storage. We tested a PSP Go game eboot load speed Vs a PSP-2004 TA-085 running a 8GB Sandisk Extreme II. Both systems have official firmware 6.10 installed. For this test we ran Grand Turismo in eboot form. Which was downloaded from PSN and installed on both systems.
Our little test only took a few minutes and it was clear to see that internal flash drive didn’t give the PSP Go any advantage what-so-ever. In fact it was about a one second slower than our PSP-2004. Could it have been because we used a faster Extreme II memory stick Pro duo? Maybe. Also since we don’t have a UMD version of GT, we couldn’t test it.
So that was an easy one. PSP Go = No advantage VS a normal PSP in flash memory loading speeds.

First Post!! Kinda sad that they couldn’t find some way to make it a little bit faster… Especially at the price its marked at.. And I’m sure that its way faster then the UMD version by far but who uses UMD’s now a day huh?

Thus, I find no reason to buy a PSP Go.

UM>…………. I was wondering does psp 2000, and 3000 can also download games legally and play it on their mem like PSP GO?
October 10, 2009 at 9:06 am
Err no
October 10, 2009 at 11:27 am
yes you can with the PSNStore
October 16, 2009 at 8:05 pm
What the Hell are YOU smoking? Of course you can! The PSP 2/3000 can do everything the Go can do. (Save for save state feature and bluetooth).
Obviously, you’ve never used the PSN on your 2/3000.

Save state? Do you mean, when the power is lost, there is the bonus of being able to continue from where the battery gives out? I bought my PSP 3000 series and it can do this.
On the 1second timing, can this really be that bad? What is 1second these days anyway? I would think that this would be acceptable since the Memory Stick used or the 2000 would be of high quality and thus faster read speeds

Savestates on the go let you pause the game at anytime and return to the xmb to do something else. I find this very useful.

Thanks, I found that one out a little while after posting. But thanks anyway

Can’t you put the game in the memory stick that came with the PSP go?
October 10, 2009 at 8:55 pm
‘Fraid Sony changed out it’s MS port with a Memory stick Micro.
January 13, 2010 at 12:06 am
I’m sure you could use MediaGo to transfer from Memory Stick to Memory Stick Micro?
October 11, 2009 at 11:38 pm
it’s faster then umd’s for sure so really that’s is all that matters cause for the psp1000 throuhg 300 your not supposed to have games boot from the sd card anyway. and i still think it’s worth it cause it comes with 16gb and a free game.
October 16, 2009 at 8:06 pm
SD card? o.O
January 13, 2010 at 12:08 am
If that’s so, then why can you access the PSN on the PSP and the game downloads to the Memory Stick?
October 12, 2009 at 12:06 am
Well. when you factor in that the Memory stick is about $100, you get the same price as the PSP Go but you only have half the memory and less portability.
October 12, 2009 at 9:12 pm
I call BS on that test. Your loading speed is based off your high-speed memory card, which puts your PSP + memory card price in excess of what a PSPgo costs. Try the standard memory card and see the results as suggested above. Also try the UMD.
October 16, 2009 at 8:07 pm
It wouldn’t be in excess of the PSP Go price. That’s an 8gb card. Hardly expensive at all.

I bought GTA LCS for the PSP go and I must say I notice several HUGE differences,
Firstly the PSP UMD Version it takes like 5 minutes just to get past the intro movies, but on the Go it is only about the time of the movies themselves.
Secondly, I noticed that when you put the PSP into sleep mode on the UMD version it takes about 20 Seconds to reload the game, but on the go about 5 seconds
Next is when you go from 1 region to another it is about half as long to load to compared the ISO Version on the PSP 2000
Finally I find that the Bluetooth(tm) on the go makes GTA so much more fun when using a Cradle, Component cables and a DualShock(tm) 3 or SIXAXIS(tm)

what the problem if the speed is low cant you wait for sec
November 6, 2009 at 3:33 pm
Not really a suitable test in my opinion. Maybe the time it takes to load is actualy the time it takes to uncompress etc the game data into memory. Maybe the PSP is not waiting for the memory stick or flash memory to catch up, but the other way round, the PSP is not fast enough to process the data that the memory can deliver.

it ried it with gta vice city and the psp go was way faster.

Can I used the games in PSP 2000 in PSP GO? I tried to copy the games and save it to PSP Go but the games I copied doesn’t work. Please help. What should I do? Many thanks
January 13, 2010 at 12:11 am
The PSPGo doesn’t have a UMD drive, but if you download a game to the 2000,. you should be able to transfer it to the PSPGo, ideally using MediaGo as any other methods can be confusing with the naming of directories and MediaGo can read everything that is easily read for the user

CSO/ISO are mainly used by custom firmware. With standard firmware installed, the PSP will refuse to read it.
If you purchase a game from the PSN, it should be an “eboot” file usually with the extension pbp. When you download these, they are put into the correct folders. If you wish to make things easier and you can’t find where to look for it using a browser from a Mac, Windows, or Linux, then it would be better to use MediaGo to backup the game, plug in your PSP Go and restore the game to it this way. Then it should place everything where it needs to be.

Do I need to download the MEDIAGO? What is MEDIAGO all about? Please give some link needed to download in order touse the games from PSP2000. Or if you have some free download games for PSPGo please give me also. Thank you very much. Please instruction on how to use the PSP2000 games in PSPGo. Thanks again

This link is the official place to get MediaGo – sonycreativesoftware.com/download/mediago
It’s made to organise the PSP easily and you can use this instead of the PSP to access the PlayStation Network.
You can download free demo’s some theme’s, videos.
You will of course need the USB data transfer cable to connect it to your PSP. If it’s 100% complete free games you’re after, then that’s not what I am after. (ie, I don’t have any) You’ll have to look into forums about what you need to do to install custom firmware to run custom software. Including games in ISO/CSO format
