The three major flaws of the PSP Go
So Sony’s new PSP Go is focused on portability and the PSP to have on the go since its smaller, right?. Plus its the forum factor, being that of a slider. Like a Nokia N95 for example. But there are 3 major flaws, no we aren’t talking about it not having a UMD drive. Were not going to bitch about that here like every other site does…. In our opinion these are the 3 major flaws the system has:
- The non removable battery and battery life. Sony market it as a PSP: Go right, but after 3 hours more or less its the PSP Stop. And since it can’t have a spare battery as you can’t change the damn battery. So your PSP’ing on the Go is limited and therefore flawed. P.S Why is there no battery info in the PSP Go firmware ??? Hmmm Sony wants to hide the poor battery life?
- No UMD to Digital Download option. Ok its fine that it doesn’t have a a UMD drive. We know this. But how about a method of loading a UMD serial number or something into PSN and then download that game to your internal flash memory?
- Wireless speed. This is also a problem of all PSP systems. This PSP Go is all digital now and focused on the Playstation Network. Buy and download the games you want. Why for the love of god, Sony do we have only 802.11b wireless speeds? 11mps. At least opt for 802.11 b/g standard? 54mbs would be fine. Even better N draft speeds, if we were dreaming…. Downloading a 1GB game on 802.11 B is very slow. It will take around 3 and a half hours to download Gran Turismo via your PSP, its a 1010mb download. Better to connect up and use Media go to download at you computers 802.11g or n speeds. Much faster this way. But if only Sony added faster wifi to the PSP Go. This wouldn’t be an issue. Hell my mobile phone has Wireless G.
There you have it. The major flaws in our eyes. If you can get past this, then the Go is maybe the PSP for you. (That and if you have small child like hands – Kidding!)
Keep an eye out soon for our PSP Go review soon, this post we be part of it.

sorry but mayby that the psp go gots no umd drive but i prefer the internal flash memory 16 gb i think that i cant put more than one game in that not like the umd drive that eat all your battery mayby the the psp go got a poor batry but without the umd drive we dont care i cant play like 4 to 6 hour whit that psp go and anybody tell about the 480 mhz processor i think that is better than the 222 mhz overclocked to 333 mhz to be enough strong for the litle baby 222mhz processor and we dont care about playstaion network there is a guy named dark alex he break hi ass for us to creat cfw to ru hombrew and iso and mor on you psp i think is a big step for sony but like every new toy there alway something that cant be better but do you think that the ps3come out first with the 160gb hard drive and a blue ray drive strong enough to suport over 6 month of hardcore gaming stop says that the psp go is a peace of crap is only a new litle baby that just come out since 4 mounth like every new electronics system there alway something to upgrade remeber the first 64 mb rca lyra mp3 now we got ipod touch we can listen music with a size of 3.4 mb thats better than the cd or tape or big vinyl and the last thing i want to says and i wrote it loud i prefer to have my litle and LIGHT WEIGHT go in my pocket than the fat psp (1000) or the slim psp that is not heavyer than her sister the fat psp but still the same size sorry but is very but very big thats make me think about big game boy or a cd player that is huge to huge for my pant psp go try it before peeing on it
October 16, 2009 at 11:49 pm
Hoy IDIOT it would take a few minutes 20 at most ( and even that’s exaggerated) to transfer Gran Turismo to the go via Wifi. Really what idiot wrote this.
January 7, 2010 at 1:14 am
Love this device, but he’s right. i downloaded gex (ps 1 game) in a place that had a 100% wifi signal strength. it took 2 hours. there’s no way that gran turismo, a game more than twice the size of gex, is only going to take 1/6th of that time to download.
January 20, 2010 at 6:05 am
Would you like to suck my cock then?
February 9, 2010 at 8:59 am
media go are there for you you think that sony put this cd in you psp box for nothing they have think about it media go take less time and charge your baterys when donloading and installing the game and that way dont use the wireless system of the psp its using your computer lan conection and its take like 25 minuts to download granturismo that juste weight like 900 to 1 gb and like 35 minute for load and install gtavc that is bigger that 1.5 gb and i download on the psn store red alert comand and conquer like 936 mb and its have not take less than 1 hour for the dowload and the install and my comp just got 1.1 usb port that is realy slow down the copying speed so 2 to 3 hour i dont think so i got my psp go and its faster than that but your wify must be over 90 % to be enough fst for the dowload so put you psp next to your wify rooters and give me back some new
January 14, 2010 at 8:02 pm
took me 2 1/2 hours to download grand t. so idk what the fuck ur talking about ^
January 14, 2010 at 8:29 pm
it’s still way the fuck longer than 20 minutes either way.
October 17, 2009 at 7:39 am
Alright, I understand your complaint about not having at least an 802.11g card. But you don’t seem to understand how these cards effect download speeds. 802.11g, 802.11b, and 802.11n will all download at the same speed as long as your internet connection is not greater than 10mbps and you have full connection. Now 802.11b sucks, it has horrible range and therefore does not like connecting to a lot of wifi spots as you can not always be in the best of spots. And you can notice this with the psp, sitting in the other room from where router is and only 1 bar! So they should have put in 802.11g! And download speeds would only be increased in 802.11g if you have an internet connection greater than 10mbps, i actually have a 24mbps connection. But to put 802.11n into psp would be almost useless, until psp is hacked and you want to use homebrew ftp app to transfer files from your computer to psp at full 270+mbps!
October 17, 2009 at 8:08 pm
it would be a great idea if a group can write a hack or exploit to download games from your computer via wireless to the internal flash memory.
October 17, 2009 at 10:30 pm
Do not buy this CRAP. Fully hacked PSP 100x and 200x rules.
October 18, 2009 at 8:08 pm
The PSP go is a major FUCKUP!
October 22, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Idk if i should buy it my friends 1 drop just once (idk how much feet) the screen broke.
October 23, 2009 at 1:01 am
Dude, if you drop ANY kind of electronic gadget like that, of course the screen will break! XD
Sheesh; people need to be a bit more careful with their expensive tech.
January 7, 2010 at 1:15 am
is dropping it really necessary?
January 21, 2010 at 11:54 pm
Realistically, of course. Sooner or later, this guy’ll drop his PSP somehow. Maybe it fell out of his pocket, maybe he got pissed and through it at a wall. I don’t know, I’m not a psychic.
February 20, 2010 at 10:49 pm
I dropped mine down 12 feet on to solid rock and there were just a few scratches.
October 23, 2009 at 2:22 pm
I drop my psp2000 all the time nothings happened to it
October 23, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I had my psp (1000) sense it came out hit the ground countless times my screen doesn’t even have a dead pixel
. The only way i would get this is it was dropped to at least 159 with a GOOD game =/ not into the rock-band for psp
October 25, 2009 at 10:50 pm
dropped my PSP 1000 once and it broke.. had to buy a psp 2000. :\
January 1, 2010 at 4:42 pm
You dont even get a free Rockband game. You only get about 5 songs, its just a demo.
October 25, 2009 at 9:42 am
This is all a bit harsh! I downloaded GT on my PSP 3000 and it took less than an hour, then about 15 mins to install, no biggy! The battery of the go lasts for about 7 hours (as theres no umd drive) so it should last most journeys, also most planes and trains allow you to plug things into a wall socket (like the Iphone) again no biggy UMD to digital- thats a blow! but if you want the convenience of (on the go!) gaming with no UMD’s to carry, then sell all your old ones on the bay, or trade them for download codes in game stores, again, no major biggy. What you do get with a go is, No need to carry spare games or batteries, the nicest looking gaming device EVER! , huge storage capacity, all in one media centre!!!. bluetooth (great for bluetooth headphones (with no leads)) game pause option. Better screen, Something small and light, you can leave it in your jacket pocket!! I know when I next go travelling, I would pay more for the more compact direction the go is heading, Iphone and Touch have used this process for years!! we need to Go with it man.
October 25, 2009 at 10:03 am
I’m still waiting for the damn thing to be successfully hacked. On that day, I will most certainly buy one. Hell, I’ll buy two! (Great gift for a friend.
) Until then however, I don’t much care for this device. The other PSPs can do the same damn things. Downloading for ‘on the go’ and such; the PSP has always been able to do these things. Now it’s just a little bit smaller. Big deal. My PSP 2000, 32GB Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX, and I are just fine, thank you very much.
October 26, 2009 at 9:34 am
Dudes thanks for all the insite, I have read alot about the “GO” and I already have a 1001 fully hacked. I geuss im kinda lucky I work with a company that offers us kudos for good customer service and I have collected enough points for the “GO” so I think im going to get it. The way I see it I still have my 1001 and in time if we are able to hack the “GO” I will have mine ready. Truth is I just want a psp that has the video out option and that seems to be either 2000,3000, GO I figure hey go with the times and get the GO and except change as we all know the future in electronics will always be change……..we have come a long way from atari, commodore and tandys in just a few years fellas what does this say?
November 1, 2009 at 6:06 am
32GB Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX, Haha. Didnt think they had been released as yet. HealyHQ needs to stop talking sheeeet
November 1, 2009 at 10:51 am
Actually, it was released on September 26th. I had pre-ordered one from Amazon.com when it was first unveiled in July. Thank ya very much.
November 8, 2009 at 10:47 am
Actually there is a way to get a 32 gig mem stick. U can search for it on amazon. Its a memory stick shell that holds 2 Micro Sd cards. So u get that…along with 2 16 gig micro sd cards…and presto…32 Gig mem stick (which actually translates to 29 gigs once ur done) but yea it works…I did it to my psp 2000. I bought everything at around 90 bucks.
November 16, 2009 at 4:40 am
if your thinking of buying one for hacking you should still buy it now since it is very possible the hack will only be available on earlier firmwares.
October 28, 2009 at 1:38 am
I just got the psp go and it works great the wifi isant that bad and for people who think it is not durable i droped this baby down 7 concreate stairs by accident. and a work of advise just go to a store that sells these like sony style and just play with one for a bit it will convince u thanks
October 28, 2009 at 1:38 am
by the way i did not break not even a mark
October 28, 2009 at 3:19 am
I just wanted to add that for those who don’t exactly like the WiFi associated with the Go then if you have a Computer then connect through USB and download your content that way. I don’t have WiFi (I don’t pay for it) so I use my computer and it works faster. Also I created a video for how to Convert from DVD to PSPGo so check it out—>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG6bfHhAQhs
October 28, 2009 at 5:18 pm
ok the first flaw is a big annoying flaw, granted
the second is an impossible situation due to the second hand market for games, the only way it would work is if the umds were sent to sony then back to the person with play codes, you cant just do the serial thingy- otrher peops could use the umd ..and sending umd’s back seems abit of an effort lets be honest- but sony should offer this maybe.. the biggest problem is that games are more expensive on this monopoly situation sony have with there games- this could turn into a massive economic problem around the world if this download only format becomes more prominent- but thats life isnt it..
the wifi isnt the biggest issue on the planet anyway, better to use a pc- well saying that media to go doesnt actually work on my pc(cant see any games at all to buy)- its probally my pc mind
November 8, 2009 at 10:52 am
Sony is trying to make up for all the piracy with high prices i think. But I think the cause of piracy is PARTLY due to the high prices. Thats what motivated me anyway. I remember bricking my psp, and i decided not to hack my psp anymore…but when i saw the games were going all digital..and the prices were going to remain the same…I decided to go back to hacking. Its a real shame. In the PS2 days…they were the kings of handheld and 2nd gen consoles…they pretty much gave it back to nintendo…..>.<
November 16, 2009 at 4:44 am
also xbox exists…. kinda
January 7, 2010 at 1:27 am
nintendo doesn’t have SHIT going for handhelds. just look at the damn DS. i mean, sure i’ve heard about DS’s with a built in camera, but when it comes to raw quantity of ability/uses, psp still takes the cake. Music, pictures, video, wifi/internet browser, more customization settings than you can shake a stick at, USB capabilites and removable(infinite) storage. and what does DS have? pictochat. lol. and what are the chances you’ll be around someone else with a DS while you’re both simultaneously using pictochat? extremely slim to absolute none. nintendo handhelds have always sucked, but for a long time they’ve had everyone by the balls because they were pretty much the only choice besides gamegear, and who the fuck plays that massive old thing?
October 29, 2009 at 6:48 am
Yeah, I can definetely understand the battery life bit, the no umd to digital things a bit specific to who you are, because the PSPgo is aimed at newcomers to the system but if you already own umds it would probably suck buying your games again, and if they’re ACTUALLY available on PSN.
The third one though I don’t see much sense in and its kind of a minor issue if you have any type of PC thats capable of running Media go but if you had a mac then it would probably be a different story.
Probably the biggest flaw out of all of these is the price.
and THANK YOU for not complaining about not getting 2 thumbsticks.
Seems as though every site I see complains about that.
If you want an FPS, go to your PC.
October 29, 2009 at 7:00 am
the no external battery part… I think it has something to do with the hacking… they decided not to put a so no one can do pandora… however, after a few years… the battery will eventually die and sony will expect you to buy a new handheld game for them. And since it’s a reduced functionality version of the original PSP, it should price lower than the PSP currently out on the market… How the hell can sony promote the digital market if the PSP Go is very expensive… Eventually, this product will soon be phased out due to poor marketing strategies unless someone makes a custom firmware
October 29, 2009 at 11:48 pm
OMG SILLY BOY!! or GIRL their is a external battery
omg open up ur psp go its safe BUT DONT REMOVE THE STICKER!!!!! IT WILL VOID so yeaa thats it its safe to open it up they even teach you how to open it in the manual
October 29, 2009 at 11:45 pm
OMG its kinda true that u cant have blazing speeds i got my psp go
my second one -.- i triped out of my car and i slid across the street and fell in a puddle yeaa, Welcome to my life
soo anyways i really like it i dont mind having a non hacked psp but it gets borign without a fully hacked psp 2k butt one thing is for shure is the 16 gb
all u people who own a psp 2k hacked or 1 k or 3 k that are hacked, and have monney to burn , then seriously go and pick this one up
use it as ur media center and delet all the music on ur hacked one and put Backups on it , ! that what im doing XD any ways have a good day and ( dont forget freeplay has the exploit)
October 30, 2009 at 4:02 pm
the psp go has been hacked. im playing streets of rage snes style on it now. psp go being hacked is old news. get with the program guys
January 3, 2010 at 4:34 am
first of all i checked the manual of the psp go and it said that the psp go has 6 hours of battery life. and you can remove the battery all you have to do is unscrew the back of the psp open it up then finally you unplug the battery.and if you whant replace it with a 9 hour battery. and finally aboat the umd drive..the psp go is better because if you are going somewhere you wont have to carry around all of those gay looking umd disks because of the 16 GB BUILT IN HARDDRIVE and sooner itl be hacked
January 3, 2010 at 4:38 am
post some links or a video to proof it
February 7, 2010 at 7:51 am
Wait a sec… so yo have a hack… are you one of the people who hacked it or didya find a download
October 30, 2009 at 6:13 pm
@yo yo yo:
it hasn’t… post a link or it has never happened
January 8, 2010 at 4:36 am
i red the comments and i saw that you lied that you said you had the psp go cfw links to nata i red all the comments on psp 6.10 typhoon
October 30, 2009 at 9:51 pm
BTW, also for the battery life…It’s o.k but you know how it has a [pause] feature to save the game?…Well, if you have currently using it (since you can only pause one game) just play until the battery dies and when you plug it in to charge and later turn it on it resumes where you last left off as if you paused the game! Seriously, I did this on accident and I was mad but I let it charge and when I turned it back on I was amazed that I was still playing the game where the battery died. It’s like having two pause states. I have converted so many movies and shows to the go…it’s awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG6bfHhAQhs. Well, since I never owned a PSP before that is…
January 7, 2010 at 1:32 am
the power/hold switch does the exact same thing. i don’t know what you’re playing, but anytime my psp 2000 died mid-gameplay, i just plugged it in and turned it back on, woo, right where i left off.
October 31, 2009 at 10:10 am
if i need to buy a psp , on which i need to play backed up iso games, which is the one i shud buy? , the 3000, or the PSP GO? or the older version(considering i can buy 2000 or 1000 second hand)?
October 31, 2009 at 11:15 am
@Heaven Rider:
I would suggest you buy a psp 2000 because most models are fully hackable.
For now there is no way to play iso games on the go, but who knows how long it will take (maybe freeplay’s “hack” is worth something…)
November 4, 2009 at 6:09 pm
The PSP go is a good console. You say the PSP go is bad because it is unhackable. you WILL point out the flaws to make people think its crap just because its unhackable – Not everybody wants to hack a PSP & hackers, WHO CARES if its hackable or not? Its a good console as it is. Theres no need to hack it & if the PSP 1000 & 2000 was unhackable you would be pionting out the flaws & saying its crap because its unhackable. Non PSP hackers I reccomend this console, Its epic – trust me i have one & i hack.
November 5, 2009 at 3:29 am
Well dudes, I got it! the dam things tiny! I updated to 6.10v. and played the given Demo Patapon 2 and downloaded the Rockband Unplugged “on PSP GO”and it took about 18min for 428mb and 6min to upload. The wifi can use a boost my 1001 has an external antenna and puts this GO to shame but I might tinker with it and conjure up a mod for better wifi signal later. Unit has a cool app…1st app so far called “sensme” music profolio not bad at all. Graphics crisp and brighter, Calander and clock when closed, much better sound, prices at Sony Store for games a little steep, not much freebees, cool feel of console control after playing for 30min, battery life longer once ajusted (battery usage) not far from same size as Iphone. All in all Sony could have made better wifi N,G, etc.. better xmb background somthing different instead of the same ol #$@#@, better if not more apps to compete with Iphone, better PSP Radio by GOD!! What about youtube capability(Java update) Anyway this unit in the end is in the early stages yet, its hasnt begun to crawel yet, lets give the GO some time to grow. Its like opening a cold cool bottle of beer you got to let it breath before shugging it down. Thats just my opinion it doesnt mean #$@##, later world……..PS I still love my PSP1001 (hacked) you never 4get your first!
December 23, 2009 at 2:25 pm
the psp go realy is a good console because i just bought one and its awsome. with the 16 gigs of memory i can do anything i have like 6 hd free movies on it and the psp screen makes it look even better. the psp 3000s screen doesnt look that good because the screen is big and the pixels are stretced out but on the psp go it is perfect and makes it look like your playing a ps3. and also the L ane R buttons are comfortable like on the ps3 controllers. and i downloaded mgps on psp go and psp 3000 at the same time and the psp go finished way earlyer. so the psp go realy is a good console
January 19, 2010 at 6:35 pm
the psp go is good. but it has one big ass problem. i regret buying it for this one reason. the battery on this sucks. u can play it for like 2 hours then it goes down to like one bar when fully charged. Why they did this i don’t know. everything else is good about it. jus that damn battery is GARBAGE.
November 5, 2009 at 12:45 pm
I really like the new PSP go style but its so over priced. $450 wtf? The PSP 3000 is only $277 which means i can get like 2 UMD games with it. Why would i buy it if its so overpriced? lets see i won’t. If you got a PSP go in Australia get a PS3 slim. its only $50 more. PSP go cool and good, slim and looks really nice but i won’t pay for that stuff. Once they make custom firewire I will get it but for now i going to stick for the PSP 3000 which is at least $200 cheaper
November 7, 2009 at 12:10 am
WTF is right $450.00 where are you at in the world? Im in the US and the GO sales for $250.00 still high but nowhere near “”"”$450.00″”"” WHAT THE ____!!! The PSP 3000 sales for $199.00??? Look it up at GAMESTOP “US” do a google for the store if you are not in the US or never heard of GAMESTOP. Laters world………………
November 7, 2009 at 5:31 pm
He’s in Australia. The Australian dollar isn’t worth as much as the US dollar. For example, you ever look at the back of a novel from a bookstore? Usually it’ll have the US price and the Canada price. The Canadian price is always more. The Canadian dollar isn’t worth as much, so it takes more to equal the same amount in US dollars. It’s the same basic principle. Sucks doesn’t is? Sucks for everyone outside the US actually. Even when their currency is worth MORE (like the Euro), they end up paying more. That’s just how Sony is. They gouge everyone they can. And they get away with it. I think all countries should boycott Sony products until they offer equal prices, taking currency exchange rates into account.
But of course, that’ll never happen. -_-
February 7, 2010 at 8:29 am

November 8, 2009 at 4:14 am
haha yeah. I’m an Australian and I think the AUD=USD is hovering around the 1AUD=0.9 USD. Even taking that into consideration, we should really be paying about $275 AUD for a Go, but no. Nearly double what you US guys get. The extra $200 doesnt even justify the fact i could get 4 free games, although bought my PSPGo $50AUD cheaper. Really isn’t a laughing situation… NOT HAPPY, Sony (sorry, Australian joke)
January 26, 2010 at 2:24 am
Heck… it’s around RM1600 in Malaysia! (US$470). That’s even more expensive than PS3 or XBox360!
I got my PSP2000 on the first week it’s introduced and cost me only RM700 back then (around US$ 190)… and that’s with a 4gb Memory Stick. The Go! is double the price. I can get a 16gb MS (original SanDisk, no less!) for only less than RM260 (US$ 76) and plus the PSP2000, that’s still less than the PSP Go. And you also got the UMD for all your UMD games and movies. More options, less price, better battery, and fully hackable firmware too!
I don’t understand the price justification… For that price, one can get TWO PSP2000/3000.
November 8, 2009 at 5:04 am
Anon, Sony is focusing on the ps3, rather than the psp for now. Competition between the xbox 360 and the ps3 is very rough right now, so don’t say that Sony isn’t trying.
November 8, 2009 at 5:05 am
Sony is trying, but not on the psp go right now. It’s all on the ps3
November 9, 2009 at 2:31 pm
I agree. Have you seen any of the new PS3 exclusive titles coming next year?! Damn, 2010 is going to be a f***ing good year for Sony. Especially now that they dropped the PS3 slim price down for Xmas. Sony must have had an overhaul of the marketing team or something. Besides, GoWick is sort of right. Microsoft hasn’t entered the handheld market so its not like the pressure is on Sony. Sony’s only competitor in the handheld market is Nintendo which really is dominating.
November 11, 2009 at 9:10 am
Kinda true since DS and all is focused on young kids and parents alike (I’m neither as of right yet I still own one since they are simply fun) anyways thats a different focus than Sony’s teenage group response to gaming not saying thats bad its just wavering now and again but I think Nintendo is ahead in sales unless that was 08′ consumer electronics report. Anyways don’t count Nintendo out (if you were) even though I only hear the Wii brought up in conversation when it involves his or her younger sister/brother’s birthday party lol…there’s only 2 games I’d get for it and sorry they are not worth the price to get them now and I don’t like the damn PS3 aka (High-tech George Foreman Grill) but that would be my next console to buy since they are starting to heat back up in the gaming library and all but, I’m still Xbox 360 all the way and I’m only on my 2nd one (sadly, I’m proud of that too lol.) oh and to keep this some what related “Go PSP Go” like the slogan, I just made it up kinda catchy huh?

why would 802.11B have anything to do with how fast you download a game via the internet.. It would only matter for local network content. 11mbps is faster than my 10mbps internet connection, so the bottle neck is the internet, not the local network.
January 26, 2010 at 2:34 am
Not really. 11Mbps is the top speed it can reach. When it comes to wireless, there will always be a lot of transmission errors. Even though the speed says 11Mbps, that includes all the repeat transfers. Same like why an 7.2Mbps 3G is still so much slower than a 1Mbps wired. So, yeah, a B wifi will be a bottleneck even for a 1Mbps Internet connection.
November 24, 2009 at 10:27 pm
I do love my PSPGo, but you named all the problems I have. I had almost 20 UMD games or what ever, I go to gamestop and ask if i can trade it in for a digital copy, well only one state is doing that i believe he said.. So traded all my games in to buy only one($1 for each fucking game). and it got real boring only playing one. then i just got MLB09THESHOW, and this shit dies in like 1-2 hours when brightness all the way up! LIKE WHAT THE FUCK! What if I am on a plane and its a fucking 20 hour flight! (?lol) where the fuck can i charge it! Might as well bring a God Damn PS3 and a plasma on the plane! PS: I am thinkin of getting a new website if anyone happens to visit mine.
November 25, 2009 at 11:53 am
God damn you guys are so lucky speeds in india are 28 KBPS it sucks to hell it would usually take 1 and a half days for a game to download If the speed is good that day ( which is usually a max of 40 KBPS which only happens one day of the year)(voting day)
November 29, 2009 at 10:16 am
ouch man. that hurts me all the way in Australia. I lolled at your joke.
January 4, 2010 at 11:22 am
dude i feel you im living in india too and the line speeds here are f*cking horrible. the rockband demo took me like 2 hours to get. i hope to god they hack this shit so i can pay back Sony India for sucking so bad
December 1, 2009 at 3:08 pm
This make no sense why 802.11b is a flaw for downloading games. Most homes in the US are lucky to get 6mbit internet 802.11b is 11mbit… See the logic? 6 < 11mbit. Only the more lucky people (like those with FIOS or who pay outrageous monthly fees) would notice the 11mbit as being restrictive. Only most likely PSN would be a bottle neck before the wifi is.
January 26, 2010 at 2:38 am
Wireless transfer has a lot of errors and those error parts are retransferred. 11Mbps includes the retransfers. And since the B wifi has a lot of errors (G is much better), you’ll get faster speed on a wired 1Mbps connection than. They should have put a G at least. I use my PSP2000 with only a 1Mbps line via wifi and it’s so much slower than the PC connected wired to the router.
December 12, 2009 at 2:12 am
its true, i got a pspGO not to long ago, when the battery life does suck dick, so i prefer to keep the brightness on the lowest setting to try to help out with that problem, games take around a fuckn hour to download(god wtf WHY THE HELL CANT SONY GIVE THE GO BETTER WIFI CAPABILITIES?the world may never know) i was pissed when i found out that i cant trade my umds in for digital copies, then i read in game informer that in the UK you can trade one UMD in to be able to download two games from PSN, but what this article states is mostly true, somewhat exxagerated, but it hits the nail on the pingas.
December 24, 2009 at 12:25 pm
If any of you are interested but not sure if it is too small for you then go to ebay and they have what looks like a blank PS2 controller that the PSPGo snaps into to make it much more comfortable to handle. It’s like $5. Snap it in and you can slide up the screen and play using the handles and the L and R buttons are very accessible like on an actual controller. I got mine and I love it. I think they call it a PSP Dual Shock Bracket or something like that. And they have the 16GB M2 for the Go for $67.50 and free shipping. Just check and see.
January 1, 2010 at 4:46 pm
the reason you cant enter a serial number to download your UMD from PSN is because after you did this you would have a bunch of people going to gamestop and selling their game after they downloaded it. Sony thought this through more than you think.
January 26, 2010 at 2:42 am
They could at least provide a tool to convert the UMD (using the older PSP) for the Go… have it create a unique serial number based on the UMD, upload that number. (I thought all UMD has unique serial). So, only you can convert your UMD. If you want to sell it, you’ll have to sell the serial number too for PSP Go. If you only sell to another user with PSP3K, then it will only be a loss of once… heck, it’s not like they make money from second hand sales anyway!
January 1, 2010 at 6:11 pm
if you have a better phone connection, then tether your pspgo to your phone and use it? you should mention bluetooth tethering if you are going to complain about the wireless speeds.
January 7, 2010 at 2:43 am
it all comes down to what people believe as to being a crappy battery life. If the Go wifi capabilities were increased then the battery life would suck even more. Even using bluetooth would drain the battery…. so what im trying to suggest is to look at the problem from both sides?? Otherwise, just download your games through your computer (MediaGo) and then transfer it to the Go and viola. Stop complaining out at the Go’s horrible battery life. Sony did give it some thought and decided that 802.11b is the optimum (thank god it’s not 802.11a) while still preserving decent battery life, and alternative downloading pathways e.g. MediaGo. I personally don’t find my Go’s battery to be too bad, but that could just be mine.
January 9, 2010 at 7:40 pm
The battery thing you know in the manual says “Other than when disposing of the system, never remove the screws and never remove the battery from the system. Tampering with the system will void the warranty and result in refusal of service from the SCEA.” They show a picture with a warrany seal over the battery and part of the device.
Also I got a 16GB SanDisk M2 from Ebay for $40 U.S with a free USB reader. I bought one before for $67.50 from Ebay (still a nice price) and on the SanDisk website they sell for $141.99 and on Sony website they sell for $89.99. And they are not in the stores local to me yet in U.S. Just something for you Go users to check out. Both I bought with free shipping as well. Don’t buy them from SanDisk or Sony website-way too expensive. Here’s an Ebay item number for the best price for a 16GB M2 with free shipping. 390131924882. Type it in the search on Ebay and you’ll get the page. It’s $65.75 (a buy it now price-no bidding).
January 21, 2010 at 5:09 am
There are no good hackers out there cannot hack a god damn PSP GO They all suck
January 27, 2010 at 2:05 am
Okay,
The Battery Life:
I agree it’s small and it would be cool if it were replaceable, but really, hackers are partially to blame for this. people using pandora battery’s and what not with CFW, sony wants to prevent hacking.. and i support this prevention because look what happens.. they go and put an unremovable back over the battery. Also it means my games are getting worse because they can’t fund perfection. with the battery’s life though, in most instances that your on some long trip for more than 3 hours, it’s usually on a vessel with outlets. anywhere else you should have access to wall adapters anyway i can only think it’d be in a car that your kinda screwd unless you buy a car charger too.
No UMD to digital download option:
TBH i too thought they should make it an option, but i guess that would open up for all kinds of free game scamming, Just goin around the school or whatever collecting UMD codes from anyone who just has a regular PSP and no intent to buy a GO. there is some form of redemption, theres ofcourse the 3 free games for owners of older PSP’s so it shows Sony hasn’t completely turned their back to you. theres also been promotions and stuff to obtain free games, i did one around christmas where you had to download a theme to the GO ( the theme’s free too), it then sent you an email with an activation code with which you could redeem it for either Assassins Creed: Bloodlines, Gran Turismo or arctic edge Motor storm or whatever it’s called.. i got GT from it which is like $51 dollars in the Australian PSN. in the long run though if you’ve got UMD’s you’ve probably got an older PSP too.. just use that for them. it’s worth jack all if you try sell it.
Wireless Speed:
11Mbps not fast enough for you? geez man, shall i call james to fetch the limo?
average speed for us Aussies is 5 or 6 Mbps and i know most other countries dont get anything too fancy either. the US gets everything cheap and easy causing high expectations… i dont hold it against you though just remember that 11mbps isn’t slow you’ve just got ridiculously fast internet. some of us gotta leaves games DL’ing over night, if you gotta wait 30 minutes for yours instead of instantaneous Downloading then my violin remains sheathed.
February 13, 2010 at 9:44 am
after a while and long time of sparing research, you can kind of see how Sony actually made the Go to serve its purpose against the psp scene. It has blocked out pandora (only because of the mobo really, some 2000 and 3000 included), hinders cfw because the Go relies heavily on the online store and lost the standard memory stick pro duo to the M2 which eliminates Magicgate support. Really, you cannot say that SONY made a huge mistake when designing the Go, however from a consumer perspective its riddled with holes. The Go seems to me like a prototype of what the PSP2 is going to be. Its a firm warning/reminder to the psp scene that SONY are making the moves to combat them. The wheels have begun turning and the psp scene needs to ready their stations, SONY has let out the battlecry! It is just as pspgen have stated, it has always been a game of cat and mouse where SONY makes the first move and the scene has to always chase intensely just to keep up with them. But with the Go, Sony has the cheese.
February 15, 2010 at 7:26 pm
Dudes can I still use ISO’s on this thing? If I cant then FUCK THIS! Im going 3000.
February 15, 2010 at 7:33 pm
To Hayden: I get where your coming from and all. But come on man, you know and I know the umds and battery life could have been better. another one of my problems is screen size. SHRINKING!!!!! OH NO NO NO! WHO DOES NOT LIKE BIG SCREENS?
February 26, 2010 at 2:47 am
it’s all good though, it’s the same resolution, and it’s not that much smaller. Everything still looks cool, infact it’s sharper because the pixels are tighter. big screens are cool, on a home entertainment setup, this is a portable device, so it’s gotta be conveniently portable.
February 25, 2010 at 11:43 am
This thing is a paper weight. And let me explain why…. (before you think im some fanboy or something)
1. $250~~~~Why? what on this thing is even worth $150 I would buy this thing for $100 tops, and not a penny more.
2.After blowing 250, were the hell are my games i wanna play? oh ok i have to download them. uhh ok that sucks. Especially if you don’t even have wifi or blue tooth around your house. Better bundle up and hang out at some random Starbucks for half a day.
3. Most of the games I wanna play arnt even on the psp network yet.
4. Having a digital copy is cool, Its the future right? not quite yet. Because you do not physically own that copy you bought, its on your psp’s memory. You cant even back up that copy to your PC, because they claim that to be piracy. So what the hell happens if my copy is lost or deleted? And why are they charging near full price for a digital copy, when it should cost half of the regular physical copy price? Since they don’t have to make labels and boxes and disks, right?
5.Selling their own products through their market is cutting out the middle man, retail stores will go out of business when they have nothing left to sell. Is Sony trying to hurt western markets through these experimental tactics, or are they trying to profit more money (something they do not need)
6.Shouldn’t they be focusing on making a psp2, instead of a watered down version of the original?
Need I go on? anyway, Sorry for my rambling, but Ill be honest. If they release the hack to the community, then yes I will buy one for $250 considering I can play all my fav psx games, and fav old school games. That’s just how I roll. You would think Sony would allow them to hack, considering the amount of system sales they would rack in? It just means more money for them, so who even gives a shit? Nintendo? Why should they. Old school games have been smeared across the internet like peanut butter on jelly since 1995. Then they put them back on the Wii market? Thats like Arabs trying to reclaim Israel, IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN!
February 26, 2010 at 2:39 am
to EatMyPoop,
1. $250 probably seems expensive by comparison to other crap in the US, but u guys still got stuff pretty damn cheap. over here in Australia $250 bucks is fuck all, yet our dollar value is close. it depends how tight wad you are, but then, if your a tight wad take up frisbee or something, not gaming, because it’s not a cheap hobby to keep going.
2. The PSP GO can use an internet connection from a computer by connecting it via USB. There is a program called ‘Media Go’ and you can download it free, or it comes on a disc with the GO, it lets you organise all the crap on your PSP as well as Use the PSN store, so while your PSP is plugged in you can download games to it from PSN with your computer as a middle man. Issue solved.
3. True, i’m with you here. i want dungeon seige: throne of agony to be on PSN so i can get it for my GO.
as well as Dissidia and FF Crisis Core, the good news is it WILL all eventually be put on PSN, they just havent got around to it yet. in the meantime though, there are still alot of decent games allready available, and theres A hell of alot more games right now on PSN, for the psp, then you’ll find in any one physical store.
4. Digital Copy, your scared to lose it right? No Problemo, once you buy a game with your PSN account.. it’s now permanently paid for, so if you accidentally delete it (who the hell would be that dumb) you can just go into downloads and there it is, ready to be downloaded again free of charge. the only price you pay is waiting for it to download again, but consider that punishment for not being carefull! Theres also special offers on alot of digital copy games, and the best part is They don’t get scratched, they can’t break, they load faster, and you can have them all on your machine in one go without having to keep replacing discs as you get bored of a game. i think that earns the title playstation PORTABLE a little more.
5. retail stores still have much they can sell. PSN cards, Accessories(chargers, cases etc) , Guide Books (yea some people prefer them to a dodgy wiki) video game merchandise, the actual consoles themself. that will keep them afloat no sweat.. plus. i’ve allready spent about $160 on PSN cards from the same game store, more than i might of spent had i decided to buy individual games.
6. waterd down.. they’ve only improved it. the UMD drive took a taxi home but that’s it. That thing felt primal anyway. same arguments each time though, everyone thinks the smaller screens a set back, the lack of UMD is a set back..the button set out etc.. look let me explain, My PSP go feels awsome to me, very comfortable, even more so now that i bought the traveler case thing, i bet it would feel strange AT FIRST to an old PSP owner because it’s a new adjustment, it’s like when you ride your bike for a long time then ride someone else and think ‘wtf, this is awkward’ u get used to it. in my case i didn’t have to adjust, but when i did pick up my cousins PSP 1000 recently i thought This is Awkward to hold..
UMD is gone, BUT THAT IS THE FUTURE NOW! Tell me, What is an MP3 player?? what did they do to the disc man / walk man whatever you call that thing. they took over because digital music was more convenient, no one wanted to carry a selection of CD’s around. and this IS now. The PSP GO is just living up to it’s On the Go rep. it’s a more convenient PSP, after all, if you want fragile discs, big machines.. just get a home console. it’s not worth lugging all that other crap around. you can’t pull out a 3000 and get right into whatever game you want. not easily. and that contradicts the status PORTABLE.
Sony won’t allow them to hack, and u know why? because it’s not sony who needs the games for profit, it’s their clients. No ones gonna make video games for a sony console if every little Mixed 12 Year old with a mustache who will do anything to get their way despite how disturbing WILL RIP THEM OFF.
despite the impact. I’ve allready heard of particular companies deciding to stop making games due to so many people grabbing them for free. illegally. I am with them because when you download a game for free, where you should have paid for it, that’s money that the company misses out on.
That money is money that future games MISS out on, quality deducted.
you want good quality games? then buy them, but don’t expect those of us good enough to purchase games to keep the companies Afloat while you sit back and cheat them. the same people that refuse to fund a product or earn the stuff they got, have the cheek to sit back and criticise it. do your f’n part then!! then you’ll have the right to say anything.
Finally on that topic, how can you enjoy something as much you didn’t pay for?
perhaps you don’t have a conscience, but i enjoy a game i paid for a hell of alot more, part of me has to because i bought it. it elevates the experience. with Everything at your finger tips for free, what would you actually be able to look forward to then? you wouldn’t appreciate anything. you’d expect everything for free. probably the same pricks that become thieves.
but over that now, the GO is a great console, and so far none of the “faults” others see are over solid reasons, i think some people don’t want to feel like they are missing out, being stuck with their older models and not having the $ , so they tell themself “oh i don’t want it anyway, it’s crap”
heres what i think, if you got UMD’s, then just keep your 3000.. unless you want a GO ASWELL, in which case i say go for it, it’s awsome. But if your a first time PSP buyer, grab the GO. seriously awsome.
February 26, 2010 at 6:37 am
ill have to side with hayden here. people that buy the Go generally know its shortcomings and are able to overlook them for the bigger picture. Sure, i see where eatmypoop is coming from and i understand his case. However I am like hayden and considered the Go’s downfall, weighed the pros and cons and went for it. Its not a choice i regret either.
February 26, 2010 at 1:33 am
EAT MY POOP THATS THE TRUTH. ALL RESPECT TO YOU. ALL RESPECT. EXCEPT FOR YOUR NAME. LOL.
February 27, 2010 at 5:16 am
Love my PSP-3000 when the battery drain from playing games or movies,i swap battery with ease bet you cant do that with the PSP- go a.k.a PSP-”go wait” near an outlet so it can be charge LMAO! (possible only if you open it, might void the warrant tho) so much for a go eh? imagine on an airplane watching movie then gaming, back to movie and the battery drain out and cant swap battery suck isn’t it? i bet! like i said PSP-go wait near an outlet..(suck if you travel alot) that’s the only reason why i dislike the go a.k.a “go wait” (near an outlet)…….enough about the battery go figure!
February 27, 2010 at 6:36 am
“Go wait near an outlet so it can charge LMAO” yep, that was so whitty, your just too funny dude -_-
It’s a portable device, right. I take it if you can charge one battery while you use the other, your near enough to an outlet anyway, so why does it matter!? if your gonna be playing hardcore at home hours and hours a day swapping batteries, then get a PROPER CONSOLE. the main idea of a portable one is a gaming experience anywhere . wherever you go you can get it out and play games.it’s not built for the playtime dedication of your big consoles, the games are even much shorter than console versions, doesen’t that give you a clue? maybe a couple hours here or there tops. and it minimum you get 3 hrs out of it, thats telling you too that these things arent intended for more then that in a single session otherwise they would have worked harder on the battery life…. and anyway, in an instance where your on some kinda vessel for long distance trips there will be outlets for you to do this kinda crap. why not just play plugged in anyway…. *sigh* once again, another dopey 3000 fanboy excuse.
February 28, 2010 at 6:07 am
You didn’t get his/her point but its ok . sound like this person travel alot so that’s his or her opinion/thoughts about the battery issue with the go.
i go fishing alot (over-night or even days) and where i fish there’s no outlet . i take with me a few portable device (even psp) and have extra battery for them so when the battery running low i can change them. Now with psp go can i change battery? yes?maybe? might void the warranty?where can i buy a replacement battery? need to send it in to sony?whats the cost?
No battery will last a life time!
Person is not making an excuse i also dislike the go because of the battery issue!
How “LAME” bringing up console when that person did not mention anything about it.
You need a chill pill! “boy toy” like that person stated before you “GO FIGURE!” LMAO!
February 28, 2010 at 3:53 am
psp go sux! nds is da best! i know u gay sony fanboys likes to suck my dog’s gigantic balls now…my psp is collecting dust due to nothing much to play….ds on the other hand, is awesome!
February 28, 2010 at 5:01 am
Little motherfucker, why is everything about sucking dicks with you kids, I’m actually worried that you know your dogs balls are gigantic, you shouldn’t explore your animals in those ways. while DS is okay, for fun, it’s not much of a game console, they got Olivia Newton fucking John on the adverts playing it, game it up with the grandmas and the children why don’t you. that’s what that thing is, a fucking GB SP with a touch screen for kids, the 3d games like super mario 64 DS, that was just to con you into it in the first place. they made nothin else.
February 28, 2010 at 8:13 am
go away troll. we are all just a laughing at you.
February 28, 2010 at 1:41 pm

March 1, 2010 at 8:25 am
no sorry hayden. you’re cool. but @ u sux is the troll.
March 1, 2010 at 12:33 am
My synopsis.
psp go
no umd
14gb storage
no wireless g= lack of wireless support and slow b downloads
fits in most any pockets
screen and music buttons on top hard to distinguish and are easily
accidentily pressed when opening/closing/ grabing the psp go.
directional buttons harder to press with pointer finger.
Charger chord is very stiff, making it pull at the psp and hard to manuever
the psp.
Hole button must be used because only a slight pushing on the psp’s screen
may turn it on and might cause battery drainage if it’s in a case or pocket
and the user does not know.
Sleep mode or clock mode can occur when playing music, so automatic sleep
timer should be disabled.
